Who would've thought a $7 clearance dress from Target would also double as a great skirt option? I don't know what made me think of throwing a sweater over that dress, but I actually love how it turned out and plan on trying this look with other sweaters in the future! A striped t-shirt dress is a great addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. This particular one from Target is very comfortable, versatile (I've styled it more dressy with heels before, but mostly I stick with flats like pictured above), and chic (black & white and stripes are timeless!). 

STYLE TIP || For my body type, I've found that when wearing t-shirt style dresses or any dress that isn't fitted around the waste, adding a vest, blazer, denim jacket, belt, etc. helps to give a more flattering shape than the "boxy" look.

Well, we're here! The last day of 2013. I don't think a single blog post could contain all that happened this past year. Without a doubt, getting married to my best friend was completely life-changing and the best thing that's ever happened to me next to my relationship with Jesus! The love and support from family and friends has been and continues to be humbling and overwhelming. We feel incredibly blessed and are filled with contentment and joy as we enter 2014! 

Also, I must say I am extremely grateful to each of you who stop by this blog and appreciate your support and feedback! This truly is like a "retreat" for me, and another outlet to express creativity, whether it be through sharing outfit inspiration, home decor or simply what's going on in my life!

I wore this outfit to a Ben Rector concert Reed and I attended this past weekend. We LOVE Ben Rector. It was our third time to see him together, my fourth time total. We used at least 3 of his songs throughout the course of our wedding. We're just a little obsessed.

I've noticed lately on almost a daily basis that I've been answering "Target" for any given item of clothing or accessory I'm wearing. I'm literally wearing it head-to-toe in the outfit above. So I guess that means I'm just a little obsessed with Target as well. When I find a band/artist I love, I can't help but go all out. I have the need to get every album they've ever released (on our way home from the concert, Reed and I found an album by Ben that we didn't own and immediately proceeded to download it from iTunes). I guess the same can be said for stores I love. Within reason of course. I promise I haven't bought everything from Target's fall line :).

From a serious, practical standpoint though, buying multiple items from the same line or collection at any store can make creating outfits much easier, almost to the point where they create themselves! This is such a blessing when life gets hectic, just like it's starting to become with the holidays around the corner.

Holidays. Wow. Are we really this close to Thanksgiving and Christmas??? Heaven help us :)

Business Casual {fall edition}

"Business Casual" is timeless. Tailored, classic pieces are universally flattering, and personal style can still be incorporated through color, prints/patterns, accessories, hair/make-up, etc. Even though my occupation doesn't require the "business casual" look for the office, I still enjoy creating outfits in this vein. I've noticed that I legitimately feel more focused and alert when I dress up vs. dress down for the office. A black blazer, bootcut jeans, neutral bag, and some neutral or printed ankle boots are some great starters pieces for a business casual wardrobe.

My mom recently surprised me with an early birthday present - the cute chevron top pictured above! I'm grateful that even though I'm about to turn 24, my mom still buys clothes for me and thinks of me when she's out shopping :). I'm not the only one in my family with a September birthday though - my mom, dad, and brother all have birthdays this month too! My husband and I threw my parents a joint-birthday party over this past weekend to celebrate both of them turning 50 this year - such a fun evening! I'll be sharing a post with all the party decorations and details later this week, so stay tuned!

style tip || Look for great "necklace and heels" combos - you can pair them with a variety of tops and bottoms and always have a pulled together look!

This is the last of the "honeymoon dinner" outfits (see others here: 1, 2, 3, 4) I've been posting over the last couple weeks. It was fun dressing up every night after lounging by the pool & beach everyday. Those polka dot shorts are the most comfortable pair of shorts I own! Also, this outfit totally channels my wedding colors, peach & mint!

style tip || Another way to style a statement necklace is to wear it around the collar of a blouse buttoned all the way to the top - this creates a classic, clean look & really puts the focus on the statement necklace.

style tip || Balancing athletic & feminine throughout a look can provide a nice contrast - in the look above, the shorts & watch bring the "athletic" element & the sheer blouse, necklace & heels balance out the "feminine" element.
