Styling Overalls 2.0

- outfit details -
sweater || Old Navy
overalls || Target
heels || Charlotte Russe
bag || Michael Kors
necklace || Forever 21
sunglasses || Forever 21
watch || Michael Kors
lip color || Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - "Standout"

This outfit may remind you of this post from last month where I gave a few different suggestions for styling overalls. If you still haven't given this trend a try and have wanted to, there's definitely still time for experimenting (overalls are one of Harper's Bazaar's top 8 street style trends for 2015). The style inspiration for this particular look came from the Pinterest board I created for last month's overalls post. I love the versatility of an outfit like this because it can transition from casual to dressy casual, simply by switching out accessories and shoes.

{Mixing Prints} | Florals + Stripes + Leopard

- outfit details -
sweater || Target
tee || Target
jeans || Old Navy
scarf || Target (gift)
bag || Michael Kors (gift)
ankle boots || Target (last fall)

earrings || Kendra Scott (gift)

I'm not quite sure how florals, stripes and leopard print can all come together without clashing and looking chaotic, but somehow in this outfit it works (at least to my personal liking!). This look is somewhat reminiscent of another "mixing prints" post I recently did here. The temperatures in Oklahoma still haven't quite dropped to legitimate "fall weather", but I've been bringing out my scarves, sweaters and ankle boots regardless!

Which prints do you like to mix-and-match? I'm always interested in experimenting with new combinations!

Wearing "head-to-toe black" crosses my mind almost daily when figuring out what to wear. Classic, chic, flattering...it's hard to stay away. I've discovered after much experimenting over the years that there are a variety of ways to style the "head-to-toe black" look without it becoming mundane. One way is to mix textures of the same color, as I recently talked about in this post. I love how even though this leather vest is black like the other pieces in this ensemble, it still "pops" from the outfit because of it's texture. The same goes for the faux croc handbag from Target. Another way to style this popular look is adding a "pop of color" or a "pop of print". In this particular look I brought a "pop of color" through my lip color and a "pop of print" through these adorable leopard loafers, also from Target! You all know I love my heels, but if I've got to wear flats, these are definitely a fun option!

How do you like to style a "head-to-toe black" outfit? I'd love to hear ideas in the comments! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Fall Fedora + Textures

- outfit details -
jacket || H&M (old)
sweater || Target
leggings || H&M (old)
boots || Calvin Klein (gift)
bag || Target
hat || Target

Well, fall is officially here! With these cooler, fluctuating temperatures comes the opportunity to experiment with various layers, textures and accessories. I have a feeling this burgundy fall fedora and I are going to be spending a lot of time together this season. I love wearing hats because 1) they're a lifesaver on bad hair days (or for trying to go as long as possible in between hair washes lol), 2) they can take an outfit to the next level, and 3) the extra warmth is always nice for a cold-natured person like myself!

When picking out a hat for your fall wardrobe, you can't go wrong with neutrals (black, brown, gray, etc.), though color can be fun! I went with this burgundy color because I tend to wear a lot of neutrals in the fall, so this particular hat will provide a nice, muted pop of color, as seen in this outfit.

Also, layering different textures is a great technique to keep in mind when putting together fall outfits. In this outfit alone there are six different textures (leather, faux croc leather, canvas, knit, felt, nylon). This technique also helps differentiate several pieces of the same color in one outfit.

Have a Happy Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Denim Vest + Leopard Scarf

- outfit details -
top || H&M
denim vest || Lucca (clearance)
pants || H&M
shoes || Ross
scarf || Ross
bag || Francesca's Collections
ring || Gap
lip color || Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm - "Sultry"

We have less than a month to go until the fall season officially arrives, but I've found it difficult to resist dressing like it's already here! A lighter-weight scarf is a great transition accessory from summer into fall, as is a denim vest (I'm a fan of wearing denim vests pretty much all year round though!). Also, start busting out your leopard print, as animal prints will be another prominent trend for the fall (isn't is always?).

side note //  I've recently become a fan of Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm! I love how vibrant the colors are and the matte look comes off great both in person and on camera. I don't find myself having to reapply it that often either! So far I've tried "Sultry" (pictured above) and "Audacious" (a bright coral), and I'm probably going to pick up a few other shades! Definitely worth a try if you like experimenting with different lipsticks/balms/glosses.

Thanks for stopping by!  :)
