Quilted

- outfit details
 - top || Forever 21 (similar)
pants || H&M
heels || Michael Kors (Dillard's clearance score)
clutch || J.Crew
necklace || Anthropologie ($10 clearance!)
watch || Target

With talks of "mixing textures" in recent posts (here & here), another texture to consider is the "quilted" look as seen with the white sweater in this post. I love the versatility of this sweater - it can pair well with an edgy leather vest just as easily as it can with a polished blazer. You can incorporate the "quilted" texture through purses, jackets, skirts, etc. (Forever 21 has a variety of options seen here.).

Hope everyone had a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Wearing "head-to-toe black" crosses my mind almost daily when figuring out what to wear. Classic, chic, flattering...it's hard to stay away. I've discovered after much experimenting over the years that there are a variety of ways to style the "head-to-toe black" look without it becoming mundane. One way is to mix textures of the same color, as I recently talked about in this post. I love how even though this leather vest is black like the other pieces in this ensemble, it still "pops" from the outfit because of it's texture. The same goes for the faux croc handbag from Target. Another way to style this popular look is adding a "pop of color" or a "pop of print". In this particular look I brought a "pop of color" through my lip color and a "pop of print" through these adorable leopard loafers, also from Target! You all know I love my heels, but if I've got to wear flats, these are definitely a fun option!

How do you like to style a "head-to-toe black" outfit? I'd love to hear ideas in the comments! Thanks for stopping by! :)

{Mixing Prints} | Florals + Stripes

- outfit details -dress || Target

One of my favorite "mixing prints" combos is stripes + florals. I love how the simple, clean structure of stripes contrast with the unstructured, beautiful "chaos" of floral prints. This particular floral print scarf is a favorite of mine - it was a gift from my awesome sister-in-law last Christmas and gets a lot of wear (also seen in this post).

When picking a floral print scarf, I say the more colors the better because you'll be able to wear it with more outfits. There are various ways to style a scarf, but this is the first time I've tried securing one with a belt, which ended up contributing to a much more flattering shape than this outfit looked without one.

Side Note || For extra outfit inspiration, try experimenting with adding "edgy" twists to more feminine looks. For example, in this post's outfit, the faux leather bag and cage heels contrast with the dress and floral details.

Happy print mixing and thanks for stopping by! :)

Striped T-Shirt Dress

A striped t-shirt dress is a great addition to your spring/summer wardrobe. This particular one from Target is very comfortable, versatile (I've styled it more dressy with heels before, but mostly I stick with flats like pictured above), and chic (black & white and stripes are timeless!).

STYLE TIP || For my body type, I've found that when wearing t-shirt style dresses or any dress that isn't fitted around the waste, adding a vest, blazer, denim jacket, belt, etc. helps to give a more flattering shape than the "boxy" look.

COLOR PALETTE || black + white + light-wash denim + coral + mint
