Styling Overalls 2.0

- outfit details -
sweater || Old Navy
overalls || Target
heels || Charlotte Russe
bag || Michael Kors
necklace || Forever 21
sunglasses || Forever 21
watch || Michael Kors
lip color || Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - "Standout"

This outfit may remind you of this post from last month where I gave a few different suggestions for styling overalls. If you still haven't given this trend a try and have wanted to, there's definitely still time for experimenting (overalls are one of Harper's Bazaar's top 8 street style trends for 2015). The style inspiration for this particular look came from the Pinterest board I created for last month's overalls post. I love the versatility of an outfit like this because it can transition from casual to dressy casual, simply by switching out accessories and shoes.

Plaid Scarf

- outfit details -

sweater || Old Navy (end of last season clearance | similar)
jeans || H&M
denim jacket || JCPenney
boots || Forever 21 (last season)
scarf || Gap (end of last season clearance)
glasses || Forever 21 (similar)
lip color || Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - "Standout"
watch || Michael Kors

I love a great bargain, but I love finding great bargains for items I can wear in current seasons or right before. Sometimes I'm hesitant about buying end of the season clearance items - even if something is marked down to an amazing price - because I worry that I won't like it a year from then or it might be a short-lived trend, which then makes the fact that it's on clearance irrelevant and pointless to saving me money. The plaid scarf above, however, was an item I most certainly knew I'd wear this season (and probably many to come - plaid is timeless!) when I bought it nearly a year ago at a great bargain! I love the red, white and blue combo because I wear a lot of denim and cream, and I love a good red lip, all of which are complimented by this great scarf! Of all the prints to choose from for a fall/winter scarf, I recommend going with plaid or tartan first! The variety of colors will enable you to wear it with a lot of different outfits, and plaid and fall just seem to go hand-in-hand!

Happy scarf hunting! Thanks for stopping by! :)

{Mixing Prints} | Florals + Stripes + Leopard

- outfit details -
sweater || Target
tee || Target
jeans || Old Navy
scarf || Target (gift)
bag || Michael Kors (gift)
ankle boots || Target (last fall)

earrings || Kendra Scott (gift)

I'm not quite sure how florals, stripes and leopard print can all come together without clashing and looking chaotic, but somehow in this outfit it works (at least to my personal liking!). This look is somewhat reminiscent of another "mixing prints" post I recently did here. The temperatures in Oklahoma still haven't quite dropped to legitimate "fall weather", but I've been bringing out my scarves, sweaters and ankle boots regardless!

Which prints do you like to mix-and-match? I'm always interested in experimenting with new combinations!

Quilted

- outfit details
 - top || Forever 21 (similar)
pants || H&M
heels || Michael Kors (Dillard's clearance score)
clutch || J.Crew
necklace || Anthropologie ($10 clearance!)
watch || Target

With talks of "mixing textures" in recent posts (here & here), another texture to consider is the "quilted" look as seen with the white sweater in this post. I love the versatility of this sweater - it can pair well with an edgy leather vest just as easily as it can with a polished blazer. You can incorporate the "quilted" texture through purses, jackets, skirts, etc. (Forever 21 has a variety of options seen here.).

Hope everyone had a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Leopard Loafers

Wearing "head-to-toe black" crosses my mind almost daily when figuring out what to wear. Classic, chic, flattering...it's hard to stay away. I've discovered after much experimenting over the years that there are a variety of ways to style the "head-to-toe black" look without it becoming mundane. One way is to mix textures of the same color, as I recently talked about in this post. I love how even though this leather vest is black like the other pieces in this ensemble, it still "pops" from the outfit because of it's texture. The same goes for the faux croc handbag from Target. Another way to style this popular look is adding a "pop of color" or a "pop of print". In this particular look I brought a "pop of color" through my lip color and a "pop of print" through these adorable leopard loafers, also from Target! You all know I love my heels, but if I've got to wear flats, these are definitely a fun option!

How do you like to style a "head-to-toe black" outfit? I'd love to hear ideas in the comments! Thanks for stopping by! :)
